I've been dressing up in a pioneer dress for the past two weeks...and will keep it up for two more. Why? It's the outdoor ed program at camp nathanael. There are 16 workshops for the students day field trip. They are having a lot of fun. My job is to teach about 'The Pioneer and His Horse. I have two harness. A heavy harness for pulling a plow and a light harness for the pony cart. The students learn what the pioneer did with his horse all through the year. The first group learns how to put on a harness. Some walk behind the harnessed horse with the long reins and learn to steer. It's a lot of fun watching the boys try to keep the horse in a straight line.
Memorizing is a big part of my life. This weekend I'm memorizing a story about Mary Ludwig Hays...or Molly Pitcher. She was named a sargent by George Washington in the Continental army for her efforts. I will tell this story 9 times on Tuesday, 4 times on Wednesday and 4 times on Thursday. Maybe I'll know it real well by then.
