I've been working very hard in the evenings this month on writing. From about 8 pm through 11 pm on most nights. It's National November Writing Month. (nanowritmo.com) This month I have a writing goal of 50,000 words with a focus on my father...his stories, or stories about him. I've been wanting to write about him for a long time, and, as this month I am teaching the character trait of determination, I thought this would be a goal worthy of my determination.
Determination: 1. Set a goal 2. Make sure the goal is right 3. Ignore distractions 4. Don't be discouraged by others 5. Hit the problems head-on
So I am remembering my Pa
...from his early years for he actually had written some journal pages from a yellow legal pad, and had given them to me. It's pretty hard to decipher his writing, but in those pages are some interesting stories of his childhood.
...from stories that he has told. (and hopefully my memory of them is accurate)
...from living around him.
...from my siblings and people who knew him.
So if you happen to be a relative of mine you may be getting a phone call. If you have a story about Pa, feel free to call me. 606-435-1533 I know there are a lot of relatives that visit this website. I would be glad to talk to you about your experiences. All you who knew him surely have some story. I ask you to share them to be a part of my writing goal
I'm on day 11 of 30 and have 20,044 words written so far. I have about 29,000 to go until the end of the month so don't put off that phone call.
Thanks ahead of time.
My personal verse of the month to meditate on: Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
