It was Shalisha! She came home from Lexington, about a 2 1/2 hour trip, to visit. "Just had to come home for a bit," she said. She and I slipped on some mud boots and in our dresses walked down to the horse pasture as the day was almost gone and visited the horses. We brushed and talked and handed out a few treats. As I was brushing Spirit, I looked over and saw Shalisha sitting on the cement wall that makes up the old speedway. She was sitting there with her hands in the air and singing praises to Jesus with a Goliath idly standing nearby.
"I sure do miss the smell of horses" she said as we made our last rounds to the horses and then heading up the hill in the fading light. "I needed this."
Shalisha left at around 7am to get to her classes and I am a bit sad. It was such a short visit, but a sweet one. I sent her off with a chocolate Easter bunny and the chalk pastels that Shiloh has just dropped off the previous afternoon. Hopefully the little visit will make her step light the rest of the week.
