I had a call yesterday of someone who wanted us to give a birthday party for their child. They wanted us to bring ponies to their house on a Sunday afternoon. I had to decline for two reasons. Sunday is my rest day. I take time to go to church and do only what I have to do for the horses. I fix a few easy meals for the family. I really don't want to be running around between services and working that hard. Nate was happy that I had said no.
The other reason is that I don't want to take the ponies to places where they are not comfortable. What would we encounter? Barking dogs, scary trash containers, flipping, waving flags...all these things have potential to make the ponies nervous and prancy-dancy because they are in an environment they are not used to. Prancing ponies are not ideal for giving rides to little ones.
Just trying to be wise and safe. What would you do?
