Christmas Tradition
In early December there is a time
when the season gets a hold of me.
I dress for the cold and out the door go
To search for a Christmas tree.
I know they're not much when they grow wild
With their branches looking oh so thin,
but have been going since I was a child
and I feel I've got to do it again.
Chorus:
I'm holding a Christmas tradition
making the season bright and gay.
Year after year I keep holding them dear.
I don't want them to slip away.
And when I am old I will remember
and treasure the memories.
I'm holding a Chrismas tradition,
it's a treasure to me.
Gather the holly, cut the tree boughs.
Make a wreath to hang on the door.
Bake something sweet that is pleasant to eat
and then invite some loved ones o'er.
Sing Christmas carols, sit by the fire,
Make some popcorn to string for the tree,
Set the candles aglow, and hang mistletoe
in a place for all to see.
when the season gets a hold of me.
I dress for the cold and out the door go
To search for a Christmas tree.
I know they're not much when they grow wild
With their branches looking oh so thin,
but have been going since I was a child
and I feel I've got to do it again.
