This year's summer camp at Camp Nathanael was Awesome! I use the word Awesome because God had such an impact in every aspect of that place and that when you were there you could sense God working. There were around 80 spiritual decisions made for Christ this summer. Think of it! Over 80 lives changed for eternity! The last week of camp was wonderful. The summer staff gave all they had, exhausted and ready for a break, but not wanting to go home. We - the summer staff - discussed the longing to stay together all year around; so we could be encouraged, comforted, and taught by those who have the same passion and longing to serve Christ. All through the summer we have served giving all we have, then camp comes to an end and we sleep for two days straight. When I finally wake up (and find I have to make my own lunch!) I feel an emptiness set in....a desire to be serving the Lord in that special place amongst the brothers and sisters in Christ I have come to love so dearly. At this point God has given us a choice. First, to stay at home remembering the passionate relationship we have had with our Savior and how we learned to grow in such splendid unity with believers while waiting for school to start back. Or second, we can take what God has taught us and put it into action. Ok Summer Staff, I know some of you are starting to feel the effects of Post-camp Depression. Remember the passion we had at the beginning of the summer during orientation? God gave that to us so we could see what it looks like when Christians come together for a common purpose and goal! Remember what Troy Cooper said in Missionary Hour high school week? We are all on call! Philippians 1:20- Christ gave us this summer so we could do something for Him in the late summer, fall, and winter. Be that in a youth group you start with your neighborhood, or taking an interest in the spiritual needs of the kids at your Church. Pray about where God is leading you and once you find the place the Holy Spirit will empower you for the task that Father has given. Go into this ministry with all boldness and courage and let Christ be magnified in your body! This week-and throughout this winter- I pray that you will take the same passion Christ gave you at Camp Nathanael and show everyone that your Savior is just as great and powerful at this moment as He was this summer. UPDATE 2 I have bought my ticket and am leaving out of Grand Rapids on September 1! I will be flying from Grand Rapids to Newark, Newark to Oslo Norway, and Oslo to Bodo and arriving there, I believe, at 10:45 in the morning on September 2. When I get to Bodo I am taking a bus, the base will be providing, to Nordtun. Yea! I am a little nervous about traveling by plane since this will be only the second time I have flown. Do be praying that it will be a smooth journey….even so I’m excited! ~ “The Lord is the Strength of my life.” Psalm 27 I am still in need of funding for my trip. With my ticket paid for, I believe I still have half of what I need. I sincerely want to thank the people who have already given! God has answered my prayers through you! If you wish to give and be apart of what God is planning in my life you can continue to send your gift to my home address, which will be given below, right now until I get back in May! Lord willing, I would like to have full support by Christmas. This next month I will be gathering together the necessities I will need to take with me. Things like winter clothes, hiking boots, winter water proof jacket and pants, camping gear-cutlery, hiking backpack, flashlight, sleeping bag and mat, ect. The list goes on I can assure you. I will try to pack as light as possible; Yes, even for me packing is going to be difficult. I need one of those vacuum bags where I can suck down my whole room and fit it in my suit case. Ah, that would be perfect….. Thank you for all the prayers! I could not do anything without the Lord’s help. May God bless you and keep you! Love in Christ, Shalisha Brace Some of you were wondering about my address in Norway and at home in case you wanted to send me a letter…or a care package. ;) ;) Home Address: Shalisha Brace 10946 ky hwy 476 Hazard Ky 41701 Base-Nordtun Address: Shalisha Brace UiO-Nordtun Nordtunveien 5 N-8170 ENGAVAAGEN Norway CommentsStacey 07/28/2010 16:52
Shalisha your post has been a great encouregment to me! Just today it hit me that I won't see anyone from camp for a while so I was kind of depressed. But this post reminded me to keep having the passion that we all had in the beginning of the summer for God and to stay strong in him. thanks I'll be praying for you!
