Laid Up For A Few Days 05/11/2010
I am not a happy camper. I haven't been able to walk very well the last few days. Why? It is hard to say. I'm embarrassed to say I had three plantar's warts on my feet. I've worked and worked on them and finally decided to have them removed by a doctor. He used acid to burn them. Oh the pain. I'll never do this again. The bright side of things is (1)that I've been waited on a lot - not that I've done my share of hobbling, schooching, hands and knees stuff. I've found it's rather nice to be waited on. It's a lot easier on the knees. (2)I've also done a lot of crafting. The teens say that I am nesting? What? I have stuff all around me... yarn for knitting and crocheting, thread, needles, scissors, flowers to make a head wreath for a veil. (someone gave me a whole bolt of veil material so made a veil) I'll have pics soon. Almost finished. (3) Writing. There are a few books next to me. My Bible, a Karen Kingbury novel that Nate bought for me at the flea market, and a few books about writing, a spiral notebook for journaling, and a big three ring binder notebook for my ya novel. It has 18 chapters and I would say that I've got about 60 percent of the first draft written. The bright side of things? I'm completing projects and it makes me feel really good. I even did some camp work on the computer...typing and organizing songs for the camp book. Yesterday Nate piggy-backed me to the truck. We went over to camp. (He purposely said not to even try to wear shoes. I guess I'm suppose to stay in the truck.) Martha is doing well. Shiloh climbed into the fence and jumped on her back and Martha walked the length of the pasture back to the barn where she was given grain. She's coming along well for a horse that's only been in harness. I enjoyed looking at the horses. They're all looking so good. Their shedding out nicely. Promise, our palomino, has lots of dapples this year. How I long to get a brush and go work with them. We also have two new arrivals - just for the summer. The Backs (yes, that's their last name) who live in the area had two geldings they wanted us to use for the summer. I'm ready to get my hands on those two and work the quirks out of them. Ok feet. Heal quickly! One bummer for me. The foot doctor says I'm suppose to wear tennis shoes from now on. No more cowboy boots. What? Isn't that just part of horse work? Big sigh. I'll just have to get used to it. CommentsLeave a Reply | A writer...
